JOURNEY Journey is the name of the path we believe God is taking us down at Harvest Christian Fellowship. Journey is way beyond a dollar amount or a building that will be built to God’s glory. It is a path of sacrifice that leads one to a closer walk with God. During our Journey we know God will challenge each one of us to go beyond ourselves. This Journey will ultimately draw us closer to God as we wrestle with the sacrifice to which He is calling us. In fact, this particular Journey is made by those who choose to sacrifice. You are invited to be a part of this Journey. The ticket to get on the Journey train is sacrifice and the destination is a closer walk with God. Somewhere in the midst of it all, we will have a building that will bring glory to our Father. Please look over the following information and ask God if He wants you to join the Journey… - Sam Wrisley, Senior Minister
JOURNEY Goals and Missions $850,000 Sacrificial Goal This is the amount to pay for the new building and existing mortgage on our current building. Our goal is to pay off our buildings completely through this sacrificial offering. God moves through the sacrifices of His people. We are excited at the thought of God’s hand in each of our lives as we ask Him what He wants us to sacrifice. This will be a Journey of growth about which we can all be excited.
$1,000,000 Miracle Goal This is our miracle offering amount. With God all things are possible. Whatever amount we exceed our Sacrificial Goal by we plan to split and give to each of our missions. We believe God can and will bless us as we take this amazing Journey together. We pray and invite you to pray that God will bless us with a miracle and overflow His blessing upon us. That overflow will, in turn, impact orphans in Africa, Jacko’s ministry in Jamaica, students training for the Ministry at Great Lakes Christian College, college students seeking God at Encounter with Pete Cocco, and thousands of teens experiencing Christ at CIY ministries.
Missions We believe that the whole world is a harvest field. God has placed us in Muncie to share the love of God with our community. We also have the privilege to team up and support other missions around the world. Here are the missions we actively support through our prayers and God's money. Please view our Missions page for more information.
This exciting building project is a great step for Harvest! The flat-roof portion of our old building (just past the green door at the end of the hallway) has been torn down and we have constructed a new building.
This new building will features: * men’s and women’s bathrooms * kitchen * maintenance room * classrooms * basketball court * and more!
We have assembled a Journey team that will meet on a weekly basis at the beginning stages of our Journey. Those team members are: Travis Coomer, Will & Kenzie Isaacs, Rob Mathews, David Rawls, Karla Wittgren, & Sam Wrisley.

Frequently Asked Questions
Where are the nursery and fishing pond? They have moved to the existing corridor just off the sanctuary near Sam, Dave, & Matt’s offices.
When will the building be done? The building in was up and ready to use in 2008. What a big praise! That is the time we were shooting for in our prayers.
Can I donate after August 26th? Yes. Any time you feel called to give then by all means do that. This is a two year Journey and we are certain others will join in after the initial sacrifice. Please contact Heather McDowell.
When does the 2 years start? The two year challenge begins August 26, 2007.
Does my donation include my tithe? No. We are asking everyone to make a sacrifice above and beyond their tithe to the Lord.
What if I want to give something other than cash? Some people have mentioned sacrificing material possessions such as vehicles, land, rings, etc. Those things can be given. We will have them appraised and sell them. Am I responsible for selling my items if I give something other than cash? You do not have to sell the items in advance. You can give them and we will take care of the sale.
Can I donate shares of stock, mutual funds or other investments for the Journey? Yes, you can. Harvest has a brokerage account that can accept these forms of investments directly.
Why would I want to donate shares of stock, mutual funds or other investments? Can't I just sell them and donate the cash? If you donate these investments, any gain you have in the investment will not be taxed. If you liquidate the investments and donate the cash, you will have to pay the tax. So by donating the shares, you will not have to pay the capital gain tax (15%).
Will this work for Retirement Plans and early withdraw penalties? Early Withdrawal - The penalty for early withdraws will be enforced even if money is given to the Church. Normal Withdrawal - In some situations, withdraws not subject to this penalty can be given directly to the Church.
Am I responsible for tracking my contributions? We will keep track of all offerings just like we do with people’s tithes. We will not be sending out reminders at this point. As in the past, at the end of each year you will receive a year end statement but this time it will include your sacrificial giving.
Will there be other times when we can make a pledge? Yes. We want the body to make their pledge on August 26th but if for some reason you miss that opportunity you can make your pledge anytime. We will be having a few more pledge times during the two year campaign.
Who do I talk to with questions? Please contact the Journey team at journey@hcfmuncie.org.
What can I do to help right now? Pray, of course, and call the Church and we will put you to work.
