Text Box: Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles, and let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us. Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy set before him endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. Consider him who endured such opposition from sinful men, so that you will not grow weary and lose heart.
~ Hebrews 12:1-3 ~

When you have something significant that changes the way that you live your life, you want to share it. God has given me grace, a second chance and the gift of salvation. I want to passionately share that perfect love with everyone I meet. Our youth, through Christ, can change the world and I want to be a part of it. .

I serve as a youth sponsor to give young people hope in a world that is so overwhelming and selfish. To give them Godly encouragement to be set apart for Christ and to be who God wants them to be despite the possibility of being ridiculed. I also want to help them realize that what they do today affects who they’ll be tomorrow.

I love helping kids find their niche in God’s army. We are surrounded by youth that are extremely gifted and talented. They have been blessed with gifts in ministry, leading, serving, playing sports, singing, acting, listening, smiling and much more. As the world tries to take these talents a child possesses for its own good, I feel called to help a child use those gifts for God. Jeremiah 29:11 says, “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” There is nothing more incredible than watching a light turn on inside a child’s heart when they realize God’s plans for them and they have a vision for how they can use what they have for HIM.

Past experiences have led me to feel called to be a youth sponsor. Junior high and high school were the most difficult years in my life. I desire to be God’s hands, feet, mouth, and love for our youth who need Him so desperately. Max Lucado writes, “In a world rocky with human failure, there is a land lush with divine mercy. Your shepherd invites you there. He wants you to lie down. Nestle deeply until you are hidden, buried, in the tall shoots of His love, and there you will find rest.” Simply put, God has called me to help lead His children to this place, to rest in His arms.

I became a youth sponsor because a friend first asked me to try it out.  I have continued being a sponsor because I have enjoyed getting to know the kids and building relationships with them.  I grew up in church but there was a time that I decided to go my own way.  I found that there is no other way and that God was with me all the time.  I love the kids’ passion for Christ and I know that God can somehow use my experiences and even mistakes to teach them.  I have a desire to serve God and believe this is where he has called me to be at this time in my life.

Youth Group is at 6:00pm every Sunday
